In this clever Easter science experiment, students witness absorption, diffusion, and primary color combinations while creating coffee filter Easter egg

MATERIALS: Coffee filters, food coloring, scissors
OBJECTIVE: Students will experiment with how colors combine to form new colors, how liquid matter is absorbed into the molecules of a solid.
PROCEDURES:
- 1. Discuss the primary colors in the order as they appear in a rainbow. (May also want to discuss molecules and matter depending on how you will use this lesson.)
- 2. Give each child a coffee filter (you can bring in the difference between translucent & opaque) Randomly drop food coloring on coffee filter. Ask children to write notes on their observations.
- 3. Spray water from a spray bottle on each filter. Ask children to note the changes on their observation sheet. Let dry.
- 4. Cut into egg shapes. Glue onto construction paper. Cut grass from tissue paper and glue around the bottom of the egg. Display!
