Lesson using MS Word WordArt
- During Red Ribbon Week, we talk about how drugs, smoking, alcohol etc. are bad for us. Before we start this computer class, we brainstorm phrases that are anti-drug, etc., slogans that the kids have heard or just made up. On an 8.5″ x 11″ sheet of paper, I list all of these phrases, plus ones kids in previous years have come up with. I hand out this list and then show the children, using a digital projector, how to use and format WordArt. They then make their own 8.5″ x 11″ poster of slogans, and then print it. Once it is printed and reviewed by me for appropriateness, they are allowed to hang their poster anywhere in the building halls that they want. Once Red Ribbon week is over, they are asked to remove their poster from where they hung it.
