Subjects:

Grades:

Title – Musical terms
By – Tina Robinson
Subject – Language Arts, Music
Grade Level – 2-4

This is a fun, musical way to help students remember what all the Language Arts terms are especially for second grade.

Preparation: On 3 by 5 index cards write down the following terms: contraction, noun, verb, pronoun, adjective, proper noun,
abbreviation, compound word, past tense. Make two or more copies of each term. You may want to start with terms you have already introduced. You can add more terms as the year progresses and play the game several times.

Procedure: Have students sit in a circle. Hand one card out to each child. It’s o.k. if there are fewer cards than children. As the music is played, the students pass around their cards. When the music stops, whoever has a card must give an example of the term on their card. For example Noun- cat
The music starts again after every child with a card has given as example of the term on their card.
