Title – Writing Greeting Card Quotes
By – Editor/Kate Harper Designs
Primary Subject – Language Arts
Grade Level – K-5

Note from LessonPlansPage.com: students learn best if they are personally motivated to learn. If the learning process is fun and the students understand their reason for learning, the process is even more successful. The following “lesson” is really a greeting card writing contest, but we have included it within our lesson plans because it is a fun hands-on writing activity with great motivating potential. What could be more motivating than the chance to win money and little fame? What could be more fun to write than a greeting card quote? If you are uncomfortable with the contest idea, you might want to take the idea list below and use it as a fun writing promp or creative writing activity.

Kate Harper Designs is greeting card publisher that does outreach to elementary school teachers for greeting card writing submissions. We have been in business since 1995 and we serve over 2,000 retail stores such as independent bookstores, Whole Foods Markets, and Papyrus Franchises. (If you need a listing of retail stores that carry our line in your local area, we would be happy to provide one).We use recycled papers, soy inks, print our cards in the United States with union printshops.

Kate Harper Designs holds a Kids Greeting Card Contest three times a year. We vote for kid quotes in March, July and November for our “kid quote” greeting card line. Any child who likes to read or write, is creative, funny or witty is strongly encouraged to enter the contest (see guidelines, examples, rules, and ideas below).
