Title – Music Makers

Primary Subject – Music
Grade Level – 4-6

Become your very own band in your classroom. There are two ways to play Music Makers; one way is easier than the other.

Game 1. All children sit in a circle. One child is picked to go first. He/she makes a noise e.g. “bang”. The next person then says what the other person said before and adds their own noise. e.g. “bang, splat” and it goes round like that. The person who forgets what to say, or says ‘erm’ or even stutters slightly, is out. The game carries on until one person is left to say the whole list!

Game 2. This game is harder, because you have to work in pairs AND with the other children. You stand/sit in a circle next to your partner and next to someone else. Someone starts off and says something like ‘Bang’ and the partner has to do an action to go with it. If the action isn’t good enough, the person is out! It carries on in the circle, adding an action/sound each time. If someone forgets an action or a noise, or stops for a slight second – not only are they out, their partner is out too, even if their partner didn’t do anything wrong!

It’s a game of memory, talent, skill and sometimes LUCK! Get the band playing in the greatest music game ever! All you need is yourself and some children to play with!

This game helps children to listen properly, to concentrate, and to look at people’s actions.
