- Interval cards,
- Large space such as gymnasium or playground
- Divide students into groups of 2-4. Give each group a set of interval cards (several cards with intervals notated on them, going up and down). Line each group of students up on a line, either at the end of the gym or on the playground. The teacher walks across the gym floor and sits at half court (or approximate space on playground). The teacher then calls out an interval: i.e. bring me a fourth, or bring me an interval going up and tell me what it is, etc.
- The students, as a group, must find the card with that interval or be prepared to name the interval on the card, etc., and run it to the teacher. If the student crosses the line in under 30 seconds and has a correct answer, it is worth two points. If the student crosses the line in over 30 seconds and has a correct answer, it is worth one point. All incorrect answers: 0 points. The team must have a different runner each time, so that all students are looking for cards, and all students are running at equal times during the game.
- If you play this game more than one time, you may later shorten the time to 15 seconds instead of 30.
