If it walks like a duck… or a crab, bear, deer or bunny, it must be a… student doing “Animal Warm-Ups”

Objectives:
- Warm-up/loosen
Prior Learning:
- lunges
- crab walk
- bear walk
- hopping
- skipping
- jogging
Procedure:
- Begin with all students lined up out of boundaries on a basketball court
- Make sure all students have enough personal space
- Tell students to begin jogging around the outside of the court
- When you yell “bear” students must begin walking on their hands and feet
- When you say “duck” students begin doing lunges
- When you say “crab” students begin crab walking
- When you say “bunny” students begin hopping
- When you say “deer” students begin skipping
- Have the students do all of these activities around the outer boundaries of the court for 3-5 minutes. There is no particular order for these commands to be given. Music could be added to this activity for more fun.
