Long Range Objective:
The student will be able to define sharing and give an example.
The student will make predictions about events in the story.
The student will retell events from the story.
The student will make a journal entry of something they would share with the class.
Ask children what it means to share. Have them tell about a time they shared something.
journals to write/draw in
pencils, markers, or crayons to draw and color with
Read What Mary Jo Shared. Have children answer predictive questions throughout the book. Have children discuss some of the things they might share with the class. Have them draw/write in their journal about it.
Have children retell events from the story.
Have children turn to their neighbor and discuss the story. Did they like it? Why or why not?
Listen to children’s predictions.
Can they retell events from the story?
Observe journal entries. Did they follow directions? Do they understand what it means to share?
